Dunbar 2nd xv hosted RAF Boulmer on Thursday night in a friendly for the first time. Great credit must go to the Management team who achieved a great deal with such a large presence of bodies.
The visitors went on the offensive from the start and this led to the opening try of the match. Great pressure was being absorbed by the home side after wave upon wave of attacks through backs and forwards. The pressure eventually told and the RAF boys crashed through under the posts, which was converted. This forced Dunbar into action, and they took play to the opposition twenty two. Several penalties were awarded before a quick tap saw Andrew Wightman crash over with Jamie Peters levelling the scores with the conversion. Play was pretty even for the next 15 minutes before Cammy Sinclair finished off a good backs move.
The second quarter saw Dunbar on the attack and a nice grubber by McNelis set up the forwards. Wightman seemed to have scored his second try but there was an earlier infringement. Josh Nicol playing on the wing finished off a good move with Peters converting. Play was pretty even for the rest of the half. David Brunton scored early in the third quarter with Peters converting from the touchline before Graham Crawford scored on the whistle with Peters again successful with the kick.
